A Message From The President

At the start of a New Year and decade it is good to look back and of course, look forward. The Clan Lamont Society had an excellent 2009. The Gathering in Edinburgh was a great success and it was really wonderful to have so many of our Clansmen take part in the event especially those who travelled from overseas.
We continue to make progress at The Manse and it is now looking wonderful having been given a fresh coat of white paint. The Manse will always be an ongoing project and I thank all the people who have donated money to the window project.
On a personal level, it was a very special year for me as my daughter married at Knockdow. I am sure it must have been the first Lamont wedding to take place there for many decades and even all my Dutch son-in-laws relatives wore the kilt. I am optimistic about the coming year.
Thanks to David Patton of the North American Society we have a revamped website. This will allow us to get up to date news onto the site and also, we will be able to notify of the Society’s coming events. In the next weeks we will put on the website our programme for the coming year.
I will finish now by thanking everyone who has supported the Society over the past years and I also want to thank the Council for the support they have given me and for all their hard work.

Robert Lamont
President
